actually: Hurra!

to the surprise off all - 2003:
In August, 15 my husband come in with a speciell face expression and say:. "There is a dirty clump with tiny claws on it. I believe we have turtle-Babys!"
Since more holder of Testudos get successfully breedings and everywhere Babies are offered and there will be a trend to desire "exotic Turtles" not only the "ordinary Greeks ", we wanted to end our breed. All Testudos could be held without consideration of the breed in a larger part of Garden. Thus we thought !!!
But the hot and long summer 2003 made his own rules against our calculation! We never had observed the fact that Bredding of Turtles in our Country could have success.
Just the first Baby was there. After looking around we still found another - another and another - till 11 small Testudos was found. There must be an nest (ha, ha)
In Winter we let the Babies sleep like in nature, in hope of…………. But all are very well and now they live under best conditions. Never a brood was so resistant and jolly. We now are looking for new holder and hope they will become a good future

our breeding result 2000:
At the 4. August after 72 days of endless waiting, it was finally far. One of the 5 eggs from the first clutch of eggs of our Iffi, got a break and soon there was the little head and the left leg seeing. After 3 further hours the Turtlechild, (Laaertes?) had released itself from the egg and so it could move into his " new home ". What a wonderful chirpy lad . Already during the first contact he spits and rows with the leggs. Soon after his brother was born also, they now can conquer the world together.

This world exist for the moment of a Terrarium, three pages panelled sections, in front with plexiglass wall, approx 20 cm height, 40 cm depth and 1.20 m width , which fits exactly on our window sill. The small world is equipped with a small house of wood, a 10 cm large pond (flower reductor), of a flat slate (as fodder place) and as floor mat aquarium gravel. For sunlight a Daylight serves bulb 60W from company Zooplus-Com.
The first food, which the Turles are eating , were clover, dandelion and a pellet of the company AGROBS. Now we must still wait , what the next days bring in such a way. We can speak actually from a successful breeding if we know exactly that the animals are healthy. Years ago we had a tragic case , when the most beautiful Turtle-Baby came into the world and could never eat, because its muzzle was available closed up and no throat.

September 2000: In the meantime also the second brood slipped. Our 6 babies are healthy and lively. They increase approx. 2 gram weekly.
