Our Sherry, a dachshundmix!
children best`s friend!

How to be expected, we remained not a long time without dog. Our children should grow up together with him. By the experience with a dog from animal home (look at Rex 2), we bought now a 6 weeks old femal dachshundmix. Her mother was a dachshund and her father a Cockerspaniel and how you can see, it was a successful mixture. The size of the dog fit to our children, so that they could play with her. Our dog was named Sherry, because we played at that time Bridge and preferred drinking Sherry.
Sherry was really a beautiful and dear dog. Although it had the thick head of a dachshund, but her education was not a problem. Only in winter she was mad. It was her opinion, that she is a Husky and should have everything to pull. When we allowed her to pull she was happy. She actually pulled the sledge with very strength and with a child on the carriage!
Sherry was a perfect baby sitter. She made differences between the children. Came some infant children to visit us, then they all take the liberty of her. If she became stress too much, she went away. If the children were older and were angry to her, she was able to bark to them. To our own children she knew exactly, she was correctly wildly and barking loudly. Only one time she behaved not well. The children were walking with her, although she was at a leash, she snaps at the hand from a strange woman. Thanks to God, nothing happened but we could never clarify, what was the matter.
Therefore we are always very reserved with the saying: the dog does not bite! We humans cannot the dogs understand correctly and misunderstandings and mistakes were possible.
Michael liked Sherry so much that he never wanted to hear that such a dog cannot live eternally. Completely surprising on one Sunday, the dog lays down itself and was unable to do something. The veterinary surgeon advises only ending her life to by injection. He guesses that her heart was sickly, she suffered from water in the lung. Sherry found her rest in peace in our garden. She had died in the moment, when the children began going their own way.
